Farewell to an amazing 2021

Thank you to everyone who came together to plan actions, paint banners, make costumes, challenged authority and disrupt business as usual.


2021 was a big year with

  • the court finding that the Minister for the Environment did indeed have a Duty of Care to the next generation to leave them with a liveable planet. And then they had the gall to appeal the judges ruling!

  • IPCC telling as that it was Code Red for the Climate

  • the announcement that Australia will cut emissions to Net Zero by 2050 - but of course it was just magical thinking.

  • COP26 - more blah, blah, blah.

For XR-ACT it was a big year of stronger and stronger protests adjusting all the time for Covid lockdowns and border restrictions. We certainly brought attention to the Climate Crisis.

We wish to recognise and respect their continuing connection to the land and water, and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region. Their sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We would also like to acknowledge other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who may visit this area.
